چکیده

Reutilizing industrial by-products and recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) to replace cement natural (NA) in is becoming increasingly important for sustainable development. Yet, experimental evidence needed prior the widespread use of this by construction industry. This study examines performance alkali-activated slag made with RCA reinforced steel fibers. Natural coarse were replaced RCA. Steel fibers added mixes incorporating at different volume fractions. Desert dune sand was used as fine aggregate. The mechanical durability properties plain fiber-reinforced experimentally examined. results showed that compressive strength did not decrease 30 70% replacement. However, full replacement NA resulted a 20% reduction mix. In fact, 100% could only be produced comparable an NA-based control mix conjunction 2% fiber, volume. turn, least 1% volume, required maintain splitting tensile strength. Furthermore, led higher water absorption sorptivity lower bulk resistivity, ultrasonic pulse velocity, abrasion resistance. fiber incorporation RCA-based densified improved its resistance abrasion, permeation, transport, thereby enhancing exceed counterpart. hardened correlated 28-day cylinder through analytical regression models.

Mechanical Properties and Eco-Efficiency of Steel Fiber Reinforced Alkali-Activated Slag Concrete

Conventional concrete production that uses ordinary Portland cement (OPC) as a binder seems unsustainable due to its high energy consumption, natural resource exhaustion and huge carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. To transform the conventional process of concrete production to a more sustainable process, the replacement of high energy-consumptive PC with new binders such as fly ash and alkali-acti...

Performance of High-strength Concrete Made with Recycled Ceramic Aggregates

Recent scientific concerns to achieve sustainability in construction have suggested the implementation of using recycled aggregate in concrete because it has the potential to reduce the demand for extraction of natural raw materials and decrease the volume of wastes landfilled. In this respect, this study aims to investigate the suitability of using ceramic tile (CT) and ceramic sanitary (CS) w...

Investigating properties of fresh and hardened self-compacting concrete made of recycled aggregates

Self-compacting concrete is a new high performance concrete with high ductility and segregation resistance. In recent years, construction material manufacturers have focused their attention on lightweight concrete and have strived to use lightweight concrete, if possible, in load-bearing parts of buildings. Concrete with both self-compacting and lightweight properties is favourable in this cont...
